In English, I am Clear Wind Blows Over the Moon.

In Cree (as that doesn’t translate), I am Kise Otin

(phonetically said as kis-say you-tin) which is Kind Wind in English.

FeminIndigenization – my story of reclamation, recovery and healing from colonization (the first 32 minutes):

I am of the Marten clan. My great, great, great, great grandfather Francois Beaulieu II (aka Old Man Beaulieu), was Cree, Métis (one of the founding fathers of the NWTMN),and from what I’ve studied, Yellowknife Dene and Montagnais Innu and he settled in the NWT:

It was his father (my great x 5 grandfather) that helped Alexander Mackenzie map out NW Canada by being a guide to him.

I’ve also traced ancestors on the Beaulieu side of the family dating back to the 1600s in Trois Rivières, Québec.

Other ancestors were Cardinals with Chief Peeyasis (Treaty 6) in Lac La Biche, Alberta but their Treaty annuities were cut off for rebelling against the government.

I’m also Scottish of the Donald Clan and Irish.
